In kids soccer drills, I’m not sure if you know this but someone who’s familiar with the game of soccer knows the importance of dribbling. It’s the technique of moving in the ground while retaining the possession of the ball. The kids are first and foremost trained the art of dribbling at a starting level.
But the question is how important are the dribbling skills? Regular drills are the best proposition for the kids to master the art of dribbling. The kids would therefore learn the art of maneuvering the ball well. Dribbling has the effect of developing your ability to pass by most of the opponents while keeping the possession of the ball.
There are some basic rules to follow and some quality time need to be spent with the ball to be a top dribbler. Kids soccer drills coach the kids to use the surface of their foot. Kids will often use the face of their instep, especially in case of dribbling the ball at a fast pace.
However, to be a good dribbler, ensure that the kids are expert at using the inside and outside of both feet. In this manner, the kids can manage the possession of the ball regardless of the pressure from the opposite team. Kids must also be taught to apply both sides of their feet similar to a hockey stick.
Make certain that in soccer drills for kids, they lay their hands on the ball every time they move forward. Keep the ball ahead of you when you dribbling it. This has the effect of increasing the speed of dribbling while allowing kids to retain the ball.
The will allow the kids to dodge the defending team as they approach the ball for getting it’s control. So start slowly and focus at it during the initial stages to make sure that kids are feeling comfortable with the ball through each step.
Players in youth soccer drills should be taught to vary the speed. It is not mandatory that kids should be very quick in dribbling to defeat the opposite team. Alternatively, get the defender to slumber a little and move past the opponent at high speed.
Guide the kids to constantly keep an eye on the ball. They need to be both aware of the surroundings and maintain focus on the ball while dribbling.
Support them in getting their weak foot better. Soccer drills for youth should include continuous striking of the ball against a wall using the bad foot which will help them improve slowly. Guide the kids to play with the soccer ball when they get time. Guide the kids to just spin the ball backward and forward with the help of the weaker foot even when they are sitting. The more it is done, the more control can be maintained with the ball.
