skinny-muscular.jpgJonathan Perez's Skinny To Muscular Program is a guide which aims to help you gain weight and build impressive muscle, with a unique workout program that will keep your time in the gym to a minimum. Jonathan is a fire-fighter and fitness trainer who used his programme to break a ten-year plateau of being unable to gain muscle.

He offers distinctive training advice and diet tips which will have you piling on the muscle in no time and sculpting an impressive physique. It’s suitable for beginners to intermediate muscle builders, men or women. The workout requires minimum gym time, so you can fit it around your busy schedule and doesn’t rely on expensive supplements.

The first part of the book covers the training programme, and Jonathan’s opinions on what works, and what doesn’t when it comes to training for hard gainers. The basic concept is that there are a very specific number of sets, rep range, exercises, number of times to train a muscle, and rest periods that are the most effective specifically for the hard gainer. This conclusion is based on Jonathan’s years of following other training schedules in magazines, and getting no results.

His programme differs in that he suggests a very low volume of sets and reps for each workout. I found the workouts clear and easy to understand, and were quite challenging. It was also nice that the programme teaches you how to figure out which particular exercise is best for each specific muscle for YOU. This level of customization is good as it recognizes that everyone is different, and everyone gains muscle differently.

The nutrition and diet information in Jonathan Perez's Skinny To Muscular Program is one of its most interesting aspects. Jonathan basically opposes the protein fixation of many muscle building guides, maintaining that diet is not that important when it comes to improving your physique. He advocates eating whatever you like in order to bulk up and gain muscle mass, then shed the weight to reveal the new muscle that was gained during the bulking phase.

I was a little sceptical about this recommendation, as it goes against most expert advice on body building. However it does work, though I would question the wisdom of disregarding your diet altogether. Admittedly, being able to eat all my favourite foods and not feel guilty about it was an awesome bonus!

The Skinny To Muscular Program comes as a 114-page e-book, along with a bunch of bonus material. The e-book has no frills; it’s pure weight gain, muscle building information. While this does not impact on the quality of the programme, some may like a little more focus on presentation. There’s also a full 100% 6 week money-back guarantee, which I feel is important as it demonstrates confidence in the product.

As well as the e-book, you get:

  • Free lifetime updates, so whenever the programme is updated you’ll get the new version free!
  • A special report on “How to Decipher the Nutrition Labels,” describing how to use the nutrition information on labels to help you build muscle weight
  • A special report on “Dietary Supplements and Your Medical Health,” revealing the dangers of supplements
  • Email notices of blog postings, to let you know when there’s a new posting at my "Build Muscle Mass and Gain Weight Blog"

All in all, this is a unique, decent programme. It’s reasonably priced ($39), and the short gym time is a definite plus. I’m still not convinced that the diet advice is the most sound, though: I’d recommend caution when following Jonathan’s advice here.

Conclusion:
All in all, this is a unique, decent programme. The training advice is good, but I’m still not convinced that the diet advice is the most sound. I’d recommend caution when following Jonathan’s advice here, as good nutrition is one of the most important part of body building. There are much better nutrition guides available, such as our five-star rated Cheat Your Way Thin, by Joel Marion.
